New HUMAN RIGHTS IN GLOBAL LIGHT |
DONATION LETTERFIFTH ANNUAL HUMAN RIGHTS SUMMIT Donation Letter: Please help support Environmental Justice in 2008! We’d like to announce and ask you to support Environmental Justice in 2008! Since 2004, the SFSU ANNUAL HUMAN RIGHTS SUMMITS have been a beacon of humanitarian issues on campus and an outlet for students to help the community and broaden their world-views for five consecutive years. The Summit on May 1 & May 2, 2008 is organized by the SF State Anthropology and Human Rights Students of 2008, and the Students for Critical Anthropology at SF State. This year’s Summit is co-sponsored by the SF State Department of Anthropology, the Public Research Institute, the Institute for Community and Civic Engagement, the Department of Environmental Studies and the Department of American Indian Studies. The FIFTH SUMMIT will feature student and faculty panels, workshops, art exhibits, music and dance performances and other activities aimed at educating the broader public about Human Rights violations across the planet, and how we can help promote environmental justice across the globe. Involvement in this Summit means activism in environmental justice and human rights as well as support in local education projects and awareness in younger generations on the complexities of international concerns. We hope that you’ll consider supporting us with your presence. While attendance is free of charge to our alumni, your tax-deductible contribution and/or in-kind donation would be greatly appreciated. Your monetary contribution will allow us to pay for the cost of rooms, food and brochures for the Summit, and the publication of student papers in the Department’s Occasional Papers, Special Double Issue HUMAN RIGHTS IN GLOBAL LIGHT (2007-2008), to be released on May 1st, 2008, at the 5th Summit. Checks should be made out to the SF State University Foundation, with “Fifth Annual Human Rights Summit” on the memo line. Online donations are accepted at http://starturl.com/uwpqc, where you can designate your gift to the “Human Rights Summit.” Thank you for your interest and collaboration. In Peace and Solidarity, Mariana Leal Ferreira, PhD
